A little-known modern-reader novel, “Three Countries of Light,” written by the Russian poet N. A. Nekrasov (with the participation of A. Ya. Panaeva), is one of the engaging works of Russian prose.
An exciting adventure plot, dramatic situations in which the heroes act, combined with a great amount of educational material—these features are blended into it. But the main theme is pure love that overcomes all life’s tests and brings a person true happiness.
In N. A. Dobrolyubov’s opinion, this wonderful novel somehow forms a dilogy with another Nekrasov novel, “Dead Lake.”
