There Is My Kingdom

Kimberly and Geraldine are fictional characters behind whom hide Anya and Lera, the owners of their own Kingdom. Their greatest value is the friendship they protect from outside interference—especially from their parents. Anya’s father holds strict communist views, while Lera’s mother is involved in sectarianism, and their mutual dislike complicates their daughters’ relationship. The girls resort to rituals and spells to escape into a fantasy world, where they can deal with difficulties: they hide in the closet from their fathers’ anger outbursts, stand up to bullies at school, and try to avoid religious fanaticism from Lera’s mother. Their Kingdom serves as a refuge—but will it withstand the test of time and growing up, when the real problems are hidden inside them?
