Bulgarian intelligence has established that during a trip to Munich, engineer Karadzhov met with an unidentified person, after which he allowed himself to make expensive purchases.
During interrogation, Karadzhov confessed that he had been in contact with an émigré named Andrei Goranov, who had once been a fairly well-known Sofia businessman. Goranov was primarily interested in economic intelligence. Bulgarian intelligence decided to immediately send one of their own men to him with a letter of recommendation from Karadzhov. However, during the meeting it became clear that, firstly, Goranov showed no particular interest in a "reliable and trustworthy person," and secondly, he was not Goranov at all, even though that name was written on the nameplate of the house where he lived in Bern. The identity of the pseudo-Goranov increasingly intrigues Bulgarian intelligence. It is decided to send Emil Boev to Switzerland. However, at the very start of the operation he is left without a partner, who has been involved (accidentally?) in a car accident. And once again Emil Boev must rely entirely on his own resources.
