In search of that very wonderful love that people write about in books, my mother leaves the First Throne City and flies to America, to Colin Ledger—the man she met on the internet. When the in-love couple offers me an internship at the firm that Colin’s son has been leading since recently, I agree. Why not? In Moscow nothing holds me. After I arrive, it turns out the couple planned a world tour, and they leave me under Gus’s care. I’m not thrilled about the prospect of being alone in an unfamiliar country—but then again, it’s me: a girl with a steel will and an MSU diploma. I can handle it. Or, at least, that’s what I think.
