This audio book includes stories from Theodore Dreiser’s художественно-биографическая book “Twelve Americans.” Working as a reporter and as a traveling correspondent for a number of magazines, encountering the most diverse layers of American society, Dreiser studied and observed the world around him closely—giving him the ability to choose from countless people he met twelve characters who truly deserved attention. In one of his essays, Dreiser stated: “In the life that passed before me, I could not detect any meaning.” Perhaps the writer really did fail to notice the meaning of half a century lived—but he saw the man of his time, saw an era through that man, and passed it on. The stories from the collection “Twelve Americans” are further proof of that.
