Andrey Donatovich Sinyavsky (1925–1997) is a prose writer and literary scholar. Author of books "In the Shadow of Gogol," "Walks with Pushkin," "A Voice from the Choir," "Ivan the Fool," the story "Lyubimov," and the novel "Koshkin House." A dissident (the Sinyavsky–Daniel trial) and a criminal, because “art is criminal, since it is obliged and doomed to cross boundaries.” The novel "Good Night" is neither fiction nor a biography; its artistic credibility is built from fantastic details of the author’s life. The edition is supplemented by a chapter from M. V. Rozanova-Sinyavskaya’s book "Abram and Marya."
