This story is an attempt to show the system of investigation that existed in the USSR in the 1970s.
Despite some negativity characteristic of that time, there was also a lot of positive, in particular in the work of law enforcement bodies and special services—what has been lost and what is lacking in our uneasy time.
In that society lived and worked people with different fates, characters, and beliefs. Each of them contributed their share to strengthening or disassembling (and sometimes both) this complex tool of power. But despite that, the investigation system existed and worked quite effectively—until, in a thoughtless, drunken frenzy of the 90s, it was destroyed.
In many ways, the book is based on real events.
