When servants and precious jewels suddenly begin to disappear in a palace or castle, and threats written in blood appear on the walls, the owners usually call in investigators. Professional nosers will examine everything, question everyone, and—perhaps—find the culprit. In return, they’ll receive crucial information about deeply hidden secrets of their clients… and it’s still unknown what is more valuable to them.
But throughout the Ardagean kingdom, secret rumors are spreading, that a “goofball” contract—one that can be bought out at the monastery of “Holy Silence”—will solve any trouble much faster and more reliably than those clever investigators. And besides that, no one will ever be told anyone else’s secrets, and the contractors won’t blackmail their clients with them.
There’s just one snag: every year the monastery releases only a few well-trained sisters, and the number of people who want to offer them a contract is many times larger. And someone will have to lose out to more fortunate competitors… or, if that’s impossible, try to intercept an already paid-for “goofball.”
This story takes place in the world of “Maglora,” shortly after the events described in the trilogy “Maglora.”
