Suicide: A Study in Sociology

Émile Durkheim (1858–1917) — French sociologist and philosopher, professor at the universities of Bordeaux and the Sorbonne, founder of the French school of sociology, and one of the founders of sociology as an independent science. This book, first published back in 1897, became a model of sociological research. Durkheim used the method of secondary analysis of existing official statistics and, based on extensive factual material, analyzed the phenomenon of suicide from many different angles: social and moral-psychological, religious, and ethnic.
