RS 438 The Culture of Ryazan-Oka Burial Grounds — Ancestors of the Mordvins. Natalya Birkina

We discuss the role of the ancestors of the modern Mordvins in the Great Migration of Peoples and their interactions with the Sarmatians and the state of Ermanaric. We also consider the influence of the wars of the 1st, 3rd, and 5th centuries on the territory of present-day Ryazan Region. The topic of the archaeological culture of the Ryazan-Oka burial sites is discussed with Natalya Birkina, a research associate of the Department of Archaeological Monuments of the Historical Museum and head of the Forest-Steppe Archaeological Expedition of the State Historical Museum (GIM).
