After the Great Time of Troubles, the Earth changed radically. An enormous number of people and animals died. But life on the planet survived—even if only 1 out of every 7.
Most of the population concentrates in the Oases, which arose in places that before the war lacked serious industrial, military, and energy facilities, and where people live more or less in a civilized manner, though under the power of corporations.
There are also reservations and agricultural communities, where people do subsistence farming under the constant threat of punitive raids from the Oases or attacks by wild gangs—“barbarians” living near the twilight zones. And there are reytars, Cossacks, Pechenegs, dogs, and mutants from the Halls (places maximally contaminated with radiation).
Under these conditions, how can they resist the corporations’ attempts to recreate old order, love the future, and simply remain human?
