The Rout

A. A. Fadeev’s novel “The Rout” was written in 1926. The work is based on the writer’s sketch-story “The Blizzard,” which the author later expanded into a major novel. In “The Rout,” Fadeev focuses on portraying the military life of a small partisan detachment and depicts events of the Civil War (1917–1923) that took place in the Ussuri region.
The work is a vivid example of the literary trend known as socialist realism.
