This book waited 15 years for its time. It all began with the screenplay for the feature film “How Can I Save You, Son?”, based on which a two-part film was planned in the early nineties at the Dovzhenko Film Studio in Kyiv. Alas, the movie could not be made because of the crisis in the country and at the studio. However, the screenplay remained and later transformed into an almost autobiographical film novella about the events in Pripyat on April 26–27, 1986, about the evacuation, and about the fates of the author’s relatives and friends — Pripyat resident Lyubov Sirota.
