The Adventures of Captain Wrongel

Description
A musical fairy tale based on the novella by A. Nekrasov.
A humorous novella by Soviet writer Andrei Nekrasov, written in Russian. The book was first published in the magazine Pioneer in 1937 in an abridged form (or rather in the form of illustrated captions, i.e. effectively as a comic strip); the full book edition came out in 1939. The novel parodies both the sailor stories popular in the 1930s and stereotypes about foreigners and individual countries. The main character of the book is Captain Wrongel, whose surname parodies the name Wrangel, with the first part of the name playing on the word "liar." Wrongel, whose name has become a common noun, is the nautical equivalent of Baron Munchausen, recounting tall tales about his adventures at sea.
