Crime and Punishment

Crime and Punishment

4 hrs. 57 min.
Description
The main goal of the creators of this audio production is to attract the younger generation in Russia to the works of the great Russian writer F. M. Dostoevsky and his brilliant masterpiece “Crime and Punishment.”

In this book, American policemen study the psychology of a criminal, and the question, “You trembling creature—or do I have the right?” has forced many generations of Russian readers to break spearheads against each other. A murderer alone with his sick conscience—this pair evokes both disgust and pity, and at the same time a burning desire to look as closely as possible into their relationship. And, unexpectedly, to understand that punishment is nothing other than a medicine that cures the criminal of a terrible and lingering illness.

The performance was recorded in the best traditions of “Theatre at the Microphone” by leading theatre and film actors; all the main plot lines were preserved. Director Viktor Trukhan and screenwriter Tatyana Sakharova treated the author’s text with remarkable care.

Original music by composer Shandor Kallos is yet another character in the production.
