Piranha: First Strike

The novel “Piranha. The First Throw” opens a series of gripping bestsellers about Kirill Mazur. In search of gold from a sunken frigate, which Soviet combat divers were led to by an employee of French special services—charming Madeleine de Ronac—they have to fight pirates.

More than two hundred years ago, in 1774, the British military frigate “Agamemnon,” sailing from India to the metropolis, was caught by a storm somewhere near the Ahatine Islands and went down with the entire crew. In its holds, the “Agamemnon” carried treasures seized in India—mainly gold and precious stones. It so happened that information about the approximate location of the catastrophe didn’t reach the descendants of Admiral Nelson, but the Soviet Main Naval Headquarters. 1976. The research vessel “Sirius,” carrying out work in those waters, looked no different from any other ship. Only few knew the true purpose of the “Sirius.” That besides peaceful scientists on board, there was also a team of combat divers, who used a hatch in the bottom of the vessel and every day secretly surfaced to search for the frigate’s remains.

That is when we meet Lieutenant Mazur—with his commander, Captain-Lieutenant Trikolenko, nicknamed the Sea Serpent; with the ship doctor of the Sea Devils team, Lieutenant Lymar; and with the security officer, Captain-Lieutenant Samarin, nicknamed Lavrik. And that’s when Mazur’s sea devil odyssey begins.
