The hero of the previous part of the trilogy, a philologist Ransom, receives from the higher forces that govern the worlds a task—to fly to Venus and stand against an evil that is approaching that planet.

The philologist is transported to Venus, which in the ancient language of the people of the solar system is called Perelandra.

He finds himself in an amazing Eden-like world, filled with pristine purity, where animals are not afraid of people, where edible fruits grow on every tree—and no hint of the biblical Eden exists anywhere except in the hero’s mind. That’s when the local Eve appears—Queen. She is a spiritually young and morally pure being. Ransom tries to establish contact with her, all the while not only trying to understand his mission, but also learning many secrets of existence—to know the role of Earth’s humanity in the cosmos.

But soon after Ransom arrives on Perelandra, his old enemy—Weston—also comes there. And this Weston embodies evil.
