The life of eleven-year-old Jake is turned upside down: his father was wounded in Afghanistan, and his mother goes to care for him. That means Jake will spend the summer on the tiny island of Dweys with his grandmother. The island turns out to be a natural reserve far from civilization—there are no cars, paved roads, restaurants, or even shops. Even worse, Grandma doesn’t like television or the internet. On the island, Jake is left without a phone, video games, and friends. It seems it will be the worst summer of his life! However, on the island he meets other children—Mason and Louvi. Together the three set off to look for adventures and share their family secrets along the way.
