Kolka Pozharsky, along with friends, goes for a walk along the riverbank. They decide to take another break near a waterworks facility located by a small settlement. Soon it becomes clear that it is an important strategic site, and the group is asked to leave the area. However, before they manage to go, strange events occur: a local teacher dies right before their eyes, and then news comes about the murder of a district officer. Unknown assailants attack Kolka, strike him on the head, and throw him into a pit. What’s more, the friends notice that someone is secretly undermining one of the dam’s supports, which looks like sabotage. Deciding to find out what’s going on, the group has no idea that they’re about to face a dangerous opponent.

This story reflects the spirit of the post-war generation that many recognize: a period when freedom and youth overflow, and when there’s only one step between a feeling of permissiveness and real danger.
