Description
England. Hampshire. 1699.

Lady Anna Barrington, against her father’s will, marries an ordinary sailor from Holland with the surname Finebork. This act leaves an indelible stain on her reputation for the next thirty years. Her parents and friends abandon her; society rejects her. After her husband’s death, she is forced to work to support her son Anthony and daughter Tilly. Anthony starts working at the port from an early age. He provides small services to sailors and earns money that way. At the same time, he helps the local doctor and studies medicine. Anthony’s efforts bear fruit. He manages to arrange a peaceful life for his mother and sister, but society refuses to accept the Finebork family. Only with the goal of restoring his mother’s good name, Anthony enters a seminary and becomes a priest. Immediately after finishing seminary, Anthony receives the long-awaited offer that helps him open the doors to high society. He becomes a chaplain at Farley Wallop’s estate. From that moment on, his life changes completely. Luck accompanies him at every step, richly rewarding him for years of deprivation.

Everything goes wonderfully until the very day when the revenge of secret enemies awakens in him an irresistible passion for the sea. Spurning all the benefits of life, Anthony only thinks about finding a ship and joining the brotherhood by the shore. He is ready to take any desperate step to fulfill his dream.
