The second story in the cycle “Necromancer for an Hour” about the adventures of necromancer Anton Shirokov and his team. In winter Zarerechensk, life goes on as usual: people work, rest, go skiing and ride “tubing” sleds, stroll through the winter forest. But Yuri Ivanovich Karasyov, better known as Karas, isn’t up for entertainment. A fortune-teller predicted his imminent death at the hands of someone who “died, but is alive.” Is he a ghost—or something else nasty… And she also said she would bring the murderer to Zarerechensk because of a mistake Karas made about ten years ago. But how do you remember now? And how do you look for this murderer to get to him first?

Yet not only Karas’s past leads Anton Shirokov to Zarerechensk. Strange deaths of witches are somehow connected with this provincial town, and no one except the necromancer can make sense of it.
