A unique blend of Slavic mythology, fantastic detective fiction, and deep psychological storytelling.
This terrifying and beautiful story immerses you in a dense autumn atmosphere, combining elements of real crime, ominous bullfinches, a mother bear, and a charming detective-werewolf as the main character!
Oksana runs away from her mother’s tyranny to her father in Medvezhygorsk, hoping to find peace—but she ends up at the center of mysterious incidents. In the morning, her daughter disappears, and everyone insists that the girl had never existed. Oksana is helped by a detective-odorologist, German Belyy. At the same time, other children vanish in the area, and their bodies—with rowan berries in their mouths—are found in the woods. German must solve the riddle of these murders and understand how they are connected to legends about a white-eyed creature. When the Great Bear starts hunting Oksana, the water becomes poisonous due to the Bogged King, and a conflict begins between the realms of animals and birds. Oksana and German must enter the mysterious Forest to stop the killings. But will they be able to overcome all the trials and return?
