Description
In today’s world it may seem that education is losing its significance due to instant answers available via the internet and technology. However, learning is not just a way to solve tasks quickly—it is the development of critical thinking and the ability to handle uncertainty. At a lecture with Elena Kazakova, Director of the Institute of Pedagogy at SPbSU, we’ll discuss how to rekindle interest in learning at all ages, the prospects of education today, and how to prevent ignorance in children. During the meeting, the following topics will be considered: whether education is a duty or a gift; the need for mentors in the learning process; the role of play in education; the possibility of a universal approach to learning; and the modern understanding of individualizing education. Natural curiosity is built into us from birth, but society often manages to suppress it successfully. Research shows that acquiring knowledge should bring joy—not be forced.

Elena Kazakova, Doctor of Pedagogy and a corresponding member of the RAO, will share her views on how to make learning joyful and meaningful again.
