“Who Remains Under the Hill” is a detective story about secrets buried forever. What happens if you move the lid of a coffin?
This time, detectives Babkin and Ilyushin will have to unravel an especially complicated case. A businessman Boris Ovodov turns to them asking to find his distant relative, Volodya Karnaukhov. Sixteen years ago Volodya was orphaned and asked Ovodov for help, but he refused. The boy moved to live in Belovodye, where his guardian became a photographer, German Chernykh. And twelve years ago Volodya disappeared…
The detectives go to a provincial town to find the boy who has been missing for so long. Perhaps he simply died in an accident? But everyone questioned in Belovodye is sure: Volodya is alive—only no one knows where he went.
However, Babkin and Ilyushin will have to solve not only this mystery. Strange things are happening in quiet Belovodye… What does the school director hide? Who lives in the forest near the river? Why do people so often vanish in this unremarkable town?
