The story of how, half a century ago, kind-hearted Santa locked Krampus up in a dungeon and took his magic for himself.
One Christmas in a small place in the county of Boone, West Virginia, a failed bard named Jess Walker witnesses a strange incident: seven creatures reminiscent of devils chase a man in a red fur coat—suspiciously like… Santa Claus. The fugitive jumps into a sleigh pulled by reindeer; the “devils” follow. The reindeer lift into the sky, and all of them disappear into the clouds. Screams can be heard from there, and a few seconds later a sack falls onto the ground—the VERY SAME magical sack of gifts. And it’s because of that sack that the unlucky musician comes under the power of the scary (and odd) Lord of Yule named Krampus.
But the line between good and evil becomes not so obvious when the new owner of Jess begins revealing dark secrets hidden behind the sweet appearance of the rosy-cheeked Santa Claus.
