“Why were you looking?” my voice comes out quieter than I wanted.

Aslan rises at an unhurried pace, and I notice how his muscles are tense beneath the fabric of his shirt.

“Because you’re beautiful when you sleep. Because I can’t think about anything except you.” He takes a step toward me. “Because I’m driven mad by desire.”

My heart pounds as if it’s about to burst out of my chest. Aslan comes even closer, and I feel the warmth emanating from him.

“Nadia,” he exhales, and there’s so much passion in my name that my legs turn to jelly. “Do you even understand what you’re doing to me?”

“What am I doing?” I ask, though my voice trembles treacherously.

“Losing my mind.” His palm slowly reaches for my face, his thumb gliding over my lips. “Every breath you take, every movement… I only think about how to truly touch you. The second I saw you standing next to your father. I realized I was ready to die for you.”
