September 2013. A new serial killer comes into the world, terrorizing an entire state. Only this time, the maniac’s acts are so brutal even seasoned FBI agents are shocked. Elusive, secretive, and incredibly bloody, he quickly receives a short but pointed nickname in the press: the “Introvert.” That’s how he’s described in the department investigating sexual crimes. After him, police are left with nothing but rivers of blood, another dismembered corpse, and a flood of questions. Tracking him is impossible—he expertly destroys any evidence and always stays in the shadows. Unlike typical serial maniacs, he doesn’t intend to make contact with the police, and certainly won’t “flirt” with them.
But none of this matters to Sophie, because she never watches the news and doesn’t like reading newspapers. The young woman has problems much more urgent: she literally ends up on the street after her mother is arrested for attacking a policeman. Now Sophie will have to survive in this cold world on her own. At seventeen.
