“Your Name” is, both in thought and in maturity, a completely new, independent novel, but in many ways it continues and completes the conflicts and develops the characters of the already well-known novel “Fate.” On the pages of this work we again meet Zakhar Deryugin and Efrosinya, their grown children, Manya Polivanova, Tikhon Bryukhanov, whose destinies are inseparably linked with life and with the anxieties of the whole country.
The action of the novel begins in the postwar period and ends in the 1970s. At the center of the novel is the fate of Zakhar Deryugin and his family. The writer raises the issues Soviet society faced: man and science, man and nature, man and space.
