A man from our time, a participant in the Great Patriotic War. Hero of the Soviet Union Dmitry Volgin dies in Paris. For sending his body back to his homeland, it is placed in a hermetically sealed lead coffin. During the war, Dmitry’s wife Irina—doctor in a partisan detachment—was executed by the fascists and posthumously awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union. Dmitry is buried in the USSR beside his wife’s grave.
In the 39th century, the lead coffin is accidentally discovered, containing a dried corpse of a man. It’s possible to determine who was buried there. In the future, the science of the complex variety brings Dmitry Volgin back to life.
