The Family Heirloom

In one of the apartments of Zaozersk, the body of a Moscow artist Astakhov is found. According to the pathologist’s conclusion, the cause of death was poisoning from household gas. The inspection protocol of the scene states that drunken Astakhov decided to boil coffee but didn’t watch it. And when the liquid spilled over the edge, instead of taking the coffee pot off the stove, he began to twist the knobs until the fire went out. Then he went to sleep, not noticing that two taps on the stove had been left open.

An accident… No data refuting this assumption were obtained by the experts. But nevertheless, in this death there was one mystery that the operatives couldn’t solve: they couldn’t determine with whom and where Astakhov drank on the day he died. And it was necessary to answer this question. That’s how another suspect appears in the case—Vitya Lyutikov… Perhaps it’s he who will shed light on the mysterious death of the artist.
