In some places on Earth there are extra-spatial passages to other worlds: in the Himalayas, in Loch Ness, and elsewhere. Through them, residents of parallel worlds seep into our reality.
Earthlings deliberately search for such passages. Through them, people are sent into other worlds—those who possess an ability to be unnoticed, who can pass as native residents in any of the worlds. Through one such passage, Artёm begins his journey along the Trail—a world that lies across all the rest—toward the mythical world-source.
Veveren’ is a world of gigantic tree-shaped giants. Each of these tree-giants has many tiers, and on each tier there are several branches. Touching one another, the branches form entire continents. In this world, Artёm tries to unravel the secret of Timofey, the Writing(s), and the True Language.
