When he was chosen to be the defender of the world, humanity, of course, shuddered—but no one else wanted to take that position. He handled it, let’s say, not very well: for all eight thousand years under his supervision, people fought, looted, and destroyed civilizations. It even came to a nuclear war, but the remaining two percent of the population didn’t go into the Stone Age. With varying success, they live in technological city-states. So maybe he’s doing a pretty decent job.
Some think the gods appointed him as the savior. Others believe it was the universe. But a true wise man will tell you that the role of humanity’s saviors is something we assign to ourselves.
