Description
Alfred Stieglitz—one of the foremost authorities in early 20th-century American art—comes into possession of a series of bold abstract works created by a young art teacher from Texas. Quickly discovering a deep spiritual affinity and mutual attraction, they grow closer, and soon Georgia O’Keeffe becomes his muse. Her candid photo-portraits are discussed across America, but fame has a downside: critics begin to read her painting as a reflection of men’s fantasies. Georgia feels stifled in Alfred’s world, and she realizes that if she is finally to be heard, she will have to leave New York.

Amid scorching deserts, sun-bleached cow skulls, and enormous flowers, a voice is born that will change American art. Drawing on authentic correspondence between O’Keeffe and Stieglitz, Don Tripp retells the story of this extraordinary artist’s emergence—the woman who refused to fit herself into other people’s expectations and ideas of who she should be.

For modern girls who travel, are passionate about work and hobbies, are interested in the history of art, and find inspiration in compelling female heroines.
