A successful screenwriter, Greg Dawson, goes to peaceful Cornwall to work on a new project in solitude. But an unexpected meeting with people from his youth makes him look back and reassess his own path. Meanwhile, in the north of England, playwright Martin Cheeverell encounters echoes of a tragedy from a hundred years ago—and the two storylines gradually converge into a single tale about destiny, creativity, and time that cannot be reclaimed.

To meet a deadline, successful British screenwriter Greg Dawson, the hero of the novel «In the Glare of Day», leaves for an isolated hotel on the Cornish coast to work on a new script. A chance meeting with an elderly couple he knew in his youth stirs memories of a pre-war time filled with hope, and makes Greg question at what point in his life he took the wrong turn.

Famous playwright Martin Cheeverell is experiencing a creative impasse and seriously considers giving up writing. But in an old theatre in the north of England, where he goes for the premiere of his latest play, he is suddenly struck by a vision of an earlier tragedy: a hundred years ago, something went terribly wrong in these very walls involving the young actress Jenny Wileirs.
