Jack Stanton, a native of an underdeveloped planet, and the pilot of his own battle robot, by a twist of fate ended up serving in the corporate union “Tardion”—one of three involved in a permanent galactic war. A loyal “targar” equipped with a small-caliber cannon has more than once saved Jack from trouble, but a soldier’s fate is full of surprises. To seize strategic initiative, Tardion undertakes a radical regrouping of forces, and Jack’s unit is sent on a landing operation together with other formations.
