Sergey Ryazantsev returns to Earth and discovers that modern Moscow has a hidden, grim underside—a world of werewolves, vampires, and sorcerers. Now, despite never finishing his training, he must become one of the “Bestowed”—hunters of the dark—and carry out a dangerous mission beyond the bounds of ordinary reality.
The Bestowed are a special caste of hunters of Chaos’s servants. By the will of their creators, they cleanse the Earth, which has become a prison for captured fallen angels. Sorcerers and witches, poltergeists, werewolves, and vampires are only part of what the undertrained newcomer will have to face if he is to stay alive. He’ll need to meet old enemies and make new ones, take his place among the Bestowed, and, on the instructions of the primarch of the Unforgiven, go to another reality.
