If you saw her in a supermarket or on the street, you’d think she was just an ordinary woman. No one would say that she’s fighting evil in this world all by herself. Not like the superheroes from movies. Different.
Once Debra thought: I have a house, I have food on the table, but some children have none of that. And then she realized that the point of her life is to raise foster children—kids taken from troubled parents. Children who never knew what it’s like to live in a happy family.
That’s how little Hannah appeared in her home. She was four years old. She was like a frightened animal. Milk with cookies before bed, her own hair clips and toys, her mother’s affection and hugs— the little one couldn’t get used to the fact that it happens this way for a long time.
But everything collapsed in a single day. On the doorstep of their happy home stood the girl’s real mother. She took Hannah by the hand and drove her away, and Debra couldn’t stop her.
But this is only the beginning of the story.
