Description
Fishing in the Karelians’ forests for a newly made disabled person—someone who only recently had half of the right foot amputated—continues through July of 1941. Germans, Finns, local police, captured Red Army soldiers, children of a Soviet general, and the main hero, frantically stumbling through the aforementioned forests. There’s no end in sight. The task the main character has taken upon himself is such that it would be easier to smash himself against the nearest rock. He has to save two families of the command staff who were taken captive by German jagers from one of the SS formation units “Dead Head.” He has to improvise. Luckily, a modern-day man ended up in the body of a border sergeant—not hobbling around as before on his previous one and a half legs.
