Chelkash

The main character is a notorious drunkard and a bold, agile thief, Grishka Chelkash. Even among hundreds like him—street toughs—Chelkash immediately stood out with his striking resemblance to a hawk of the steppe: predatory thinness and a special, targeting gait—smooth at first glance, but inside tense and very sharp-eyed. Chelkash is looking for Mishka, his accomplice. One guard said that his friend had had his leg crushed and ended up in the hospital.
