Silent Death

Moscow. The mid-1990s. On the attic of one of the houses on Spiridonyevsky Lane, a wounded FSB officer, Major Koltsov, is found. According to the injured man, he was checking information received from an informant, but during an operation two armed young men attacked the operative; one of the attackers was eliminated, the second escaped. At the time—an era of “lawless” freedom and near-total impotence of the police against organized crime groups that had taken over the capital—armed clashes, showdowns, and contract killings were not something out of the ordinary. But the attack on an FSB officer went beyond all limits. The disclosure of this crime became a matter of honor for the operatives. The colleagues of Major Koltsov begin investigating.
