In a small university town of Ghernon arrives a Parisian commissioner, Pierre Nieman, to investigate the brutal murder of a librarian—she was tortured, their eyes were removed, and then the librarian was shoved into a crevice in a rock. But this is only the first murder in a bloody chain.
Meanwhile, in the town of Sarzac, located 250 km from Ghernon, a police officer Karim Abdouff investigates a minor case of school break-in and desecration of the grave of a little boy who died 14 years ago. The investigation leads him to Ghernon, where all the links fall into one long chain of horror.
