The body of a Parisian journalist is found in a refrigerator in the kitchen of his home. The journalist who worked with him has disappeared—yet a completely emaciated boy is discovered, along with a note from her and a strange tattoo. Old cases connected to drownings resurface. These strange incidents have one thing in common: an attempt by certain scientists to challenge death using unimaginably low temperatures. Commissioner Charcot and Lucie Ennebel join the investigation of this complicated case, constantly moving from Paris to Grenoble, from a psychiatric clinic to a lost monastery, or to a secret scientific center located in Los Alamos. In the end they realize that all the leads lead… to a dead Ukrainian city near a frozen nuclear reactor.
