This episode was scheduled to be released back in December, but circumstances forced us to postpone the release. Now we’re catching up: in the studio, our friends—a married couple of designers, Sasha and Yulia. We talked about how to start a path in design in a small town and decide on a specialization; whether you need powerful equipment to start, or whether an old laptop with a “dying” keyboard is enough; and how to keep closeness and warm relationships in the family when both work from home on freelancing. The guys also shared their experience selling illustrations for web design and where to look for orders; we discussed work mistakes and signs of an adequate client, as well as the question: is it really possible to work without a contract? We also touched on the criteria for choosing a partner for collaborations and hiring into a project/studio, creative challenges—how to grow in the quality of work and in fees—and how to organize work: is it worth sacrificing sleep for maximum earnings.
Enjoy listening! Questions and comments for Sasha and Yulia can be left under the post with the episode in the Telegram chat. Behance profiles: https://www.behance.net/julia_svoboda and https://www.behance.net/svoboda-fa84d4
