The twins Jeanie and Julius have never been like the people around them. They are over fifty, but they have never once in their lives been away from home for long. They live in their own world—looking after each other, playing guitar and violin together, and trying not to think about the tragedy that cast a shadow over their childhood. They have no education, no friends, and no money. Their only support and protection— their mother—suddenly dies of a stroke. After that, the owner of the house where they live threatens to take it away, throwing them out onto the street...
But the world they have always avoided because of its cruelty turns out to have another side as well: justice. People are found who are willing to help when neither Jeanie nor Julius is still expecting any help.
