10 brand-new stories from the “Fierce Detective” universe by Anna Starobinets—a writer whose books are loved by both children and adults.
“In each story, besides the plot itself, I bring up some theme that, as I see it, is close not only to animals but also to people. Since all the characters in ‘Fierce Detective,’ of course, are a little anthropomorphic, the stories touch on issues that matter to all of us—loneliness, being different from others, or, for example, the situation where you’re not accepted into the pack. It would be interesting to figure out what pushes a person (or an animal) to invite trouble. And I also think it’s important to talk about relationships not only with peers in the pack, but also with the leaders—that is, with parents,” says Anna Starobinets.
Listeners will meet both familiar heroes from “Fierce Detective” and completely new characters. You’ll meet Taksа Ksyunya, who dreamed of being a long-legged saluki, Edik the Anteater, who still couldn’t become a persistent pest, Michelle the Bat, who had the syndrome of ridiculous fidgetiness, and many other surprising characters.
In these new stories, well-known situations come to life for everyone:
“I’m not the way my parents want to see me,” “I want to become a video blogger because they have such an easy and beautiful life,” “I’m different from the other classmates,” and so on.
This is real tail-powered psychotherapy: through stories that happen to “fierce children,” listeners of a gentle—and already fully conscious—age receive important advice—how to relate to yourself and your surroundings, where to find help in difficult circumstances, and why, when making important decisions, sometimes you need to act not the way the voice of the Reptilian Mother-Of-Parents in your head tells you, but the way reason and animal logic suggest.
