About twenty percent of children have a very sensitive nervous system. A large number of stimuli, sudden changes, and other people’s emotional suffering are a serious burden for them. These children have different temperaments, but all of them are extremely sensitive to the emotional and physical environment. High sensitivity is so misunderstood by our culture that many psychologists and parents tend to see only one aspect of the character of highly sensitive children—for example, shyness, timidity, or hyper-sensitivity. But if we were more attentive and perceptive, we would see the full picture: creative abilities, intuition, striking wisdom, empathy. And for these qualities to bloom in all their beauty, we absolutely need to raise children with an understanding of their traits. The book is intended for parents, educators, psychologists, and medical professionals.
