Is happiness possible at the edge of destruction?
In the play, an attempt is made to look into the inner world of both Komsomol members—underground activists—and their opponents: German officers and the police of Krasnodon. At the same time, the story of the Krasnodon underground is shown as a link in a long chain of historical events that has not ended even to this day. The play includes a number of completely fictional characters for whom no prototypes should be sought. The words and actions of those who appear under real names are based on archival documents currently available in the public domain.
