"Wandering People" is a historical novel by Aleksey Chapygin devoted to the events of the "tumultuous" 17th century: the era of urban and popular uprisings ("Salt Riot" in 1648, "Copper Riot" in 1662), the church schism (1654–1667), and the exhausting wars of the Muscovite state with Poland (1654–1667) and Sweden (1656–1661).
