In essence, the project began sometime in 1997 or 1998, when Andrey Andrianov, visiting friends, wrote and recorded on a dictaphone a short story about two characters named Jery and Petruchcho—and their mother. A little while later, Andrey Dergachyov asked him to record yet another story and tried to combine it with a musical track. Then—more. Dropping by Richard Norville’s place, they recorded several more stories, and then more. They recorded a couple of tracks with Richard. Later Dergachyov put it all together. They printed CDs, gave them to friends, and they (the friends in the form of the dance group “PO.V.S.TANZY”) staged a performance based on the fairy tales from that CD—and perhaps there was something else too, but afterward everything was safely forgotten.
A couple years later, a Petersburg company ELEKTRUS offered to release an album. It was called “Jery and Petruchcho. Tales.” They released it—and again forgot.
