The novel “The Devil’s Town” continues—by its plot—the theme introduced in the novel “Tale of Kazan and the Daughter of the Khan.” It presents the image of the brilliant Kul Gali; describes the story of the khan’s daughter and the architect; and, finally, tells of the beginning of the Mongol-Tatar invasion. All these events of the distant 13th century become vivid through vivid characters and a gripping plot.
